Basking in Perfect Love

This week has been a “dance” (as my friend January likes to call it).

A fast dance in all honesty.

Each of my children were picked off one by one with a nasty cold. I tried as hard as I could to spare the baby, but she succumbed on Sunday. The last few days of her being sick along with her 16 month sister have been extremely trying; vigilantly watching their breathing and ability to clear their airways. This morning the baby woke struggling to breathe and we bought ourselves an ambulance ride to the hospital.

It was scary.

These past few months I have been trying to adapt the mentality: “Life doesn’t happen TO you; it happens FOR you.” What were these last few days riddled with fear trying to teach me? This morning before our ambulance trip I found the following passage on fear:

“There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.” 1 John 4:18

No fear in love; perfect love.

What is perfect love?

God is love. His love is infinite. God’s knowledge of us is perfect and thus capable of perfect love. He knows everything about us to the finest detail and still loves us unconditionally. We must be able to put our whole trust in Him because a God of love ALWAYS has our best interests at heart even if life seems challenging. He would not give us obstacles in life unless there was a greater purpose. The extreme anxiety I had been feeling these past couple of days was me trying to take control, but friends there is such freedom in letting go. Such peace.

So today I am challenging myself and others to let go and let God love you in His infinitely perfect ways.

Bask in it. You won’t be disappointed.
